John currently leads the Cloud Apps & Identity security research team at Microsoft working closely with the Microsoft threat intelligence centre to reduce the risks posed by criminal and nation-state actors globally. He spent 3 years leading the Security for Microsoft supporting Canada's largest commercial and public sector organizations in their endeavours to secure their complex hybrid estates. Before joining Microsoft, he spent 12 years within Communications Security Establishment (CSE), responding to cyber events and building and operating systems designed to automate and improve the cyber defence capabilities of the Government of Canada, in direct partnership with foreign governments, academia, and industry partners. He also had the privilege of improving services for Canadians as part of his 3 years with the Canadian Digital Services, in his role as their Chief Security Curmudgeon. :)
