TALK: Understanding ORBs, proxies and geospatial data exfiltration

ABSTRACT
In this session we dive into threats associated with a set of infrastructure of proxies and operation relay boxes involved in advanced data collection and exfiltration of geospatial information analysis. We discuss the design, the purpose and day to day operations of the infrastructure, the national threats associated with it and implications on a state security. Further, we dive into detailed observations from the network operations and possible attribution of identified backend interfaces.

Fyodor Yarochkin is a Principal Threat Researcher, Forward-Looking Threat Research at Trend Micro/Trend AI with a Ph.D. from EE, National Taiwan University. An early Snort Developer and Open Source Evangelist as well as a Programmer, his professional experience includes several years as a threat investigator and over eight years as an Information Security Analyst.
